A little more about Pointe Coupee |
|
In 1699, French explorers were shown a short cut along the Mississippi
River enabling them to bypass a 14 mile bend in the river. The short cut eventually
became the main channel of the mighty Mississippi River, leaving behind a beautiful ox box
lake called "Fausse Riviere", now known as False River. This point where
the Mississippi River cut away from its main channel and forever changed its course was
named POINTE COUPEE - French for "cut point". |

The fertile alluvial soils
surrounding this False River hold a treasure which is still cherished today - the native
pecan. These majestic trees, some hundreds of years old, are one of the secrets of
our unique Pointe Coupee Pecan Candy along with our special glazing process which dates
back to the early settlers of this region. We assure you no "short cuts"
are taken in the preparation of our Pointe Coupee Pecan treats.
